What is how to fold a paper airplane?
Here's a basic guide to folding a classic paper airplane:
How to Fold a Basic Dart Paper Airplane
This is a common and easy-to-fold design, perfect for beginners.
Step 1: Prepare the Paper
Step 2: Initial Fold - Center Crease
- Fold the paper in half lengthwise. This creates a center crease. Make sure the crease is sharp. Unfold.
Step 3: Top Corners to Center
- Fold the top two corners towards the center crease you just made. Align the edges of the paper with the center crease. This creates two triangular flaps.
Step 4: Fold Top Edges to Center Again
- Fold the top edges (the slanting edges of the triangles you just made) towards the center crease again. This narrows the shape of the plane further.
Step 5: Fold in Half
- Fold the entire plane in half along the original center crease, with the folds you just made on the outside.
Step 6: Create the Wings
- Fold down each wing. The amount you fold down determines the size of the wings. Aim for roughly 1 inch (2.5 cm) from the bottom edge for each wing. Try to make the wings symmetrical.
Step 7: Fine-Tune and Fly
- Adjust the wing flaps (the small flaps at the trailing edge of the wings) for better flight. Bending them up can provide lift.
- Throw the airplane gently. Experiment with different launch angles and force to see what works best.
